Once there was a man with a broken heart and eyes which no longer cried

His months of controlled suppression made him start to die inside

This man was not yet old, for he was but twenty eight

But depression was seeking a new victim and trying to control his fate

The gentleman with the aching soul decided to change his ways

He could not carry on like this, half stumbling in a daze

He knew he was not the only man who had ever lost a friend

But now he stood all alone as he grasped at life’s tattered ends.

This poem is based on my novel, ‘Kith and Kin’ which is available on Amazon for just £1.
